Trinidad is home to some delicious street food. The majority of the food is cheap, yet so good. Locals really know the good places, so it is always good to ask what they recommend. Just keep in mind; a lot of the dishes in Trinidad are fried! Here are some must have eats the next time you are in Trinidad.

The Roti Wrap is a doughy, bread like dish that is filled with your choice of either chicken, goat, beef, potatoes or shrimp. Then it is wrapped around the curry of your choice and enclosed in what is sort of like a flatbread. This dish is pretty popular and can be found at most local vendors. But places like Highway Roti Shop and Don’s Roti Shop are for sure to have this item on the menu. It is a similar to fast food and very popular to eat on the go.

Bake and Shark is what it sounds like, fried dough filled with fried shark meat. It is very similar to a burger or chicken sandwich and you can choose whatever toppings you would like. Toppings usually include lettuce, coleslaw, pineapple, ketchup mustard or a cilantro sauce. This is another popular fast food dish in Trinidad. Richard’s has the best, but be prepared for a long wait. It is always busy!

Kurma is the perfect snack food in Trinidad. It is hard, crunchy and sweet. It is fried dough that is covered in a sugary powder. You can find it pretty much anywhere in Trinidad.

Pholouri is another fried option in Trinidad. It is fried seasoned balls of dough that comes with your choice of dipping sauce called chutney. Chutney is a condiment made with spice, veggies or fruit. This is another snack type food that is made of flour, ground chickpeas, water and spices. It is very common and can be found at a lot of places in Trinidad.
