With Christmas over just one month away, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some magical towns around the nation that really know how to celebrate the holidays. If you are looking for a place to visit during the holidays, make sure to put these spots on your list.

Ogunquit, ME

Ogunquit is a great beach town in Maine, but surprisingly, it is also a wonderful place to celebrate the holidays. It is pretty calm during the winter months, but their great decorations really make the town very festive. And with the town not being so crowded, you will be able to get hotel rooms at a lower price. Every December, the town holds their Christmas by the Sea Festival. The festival consists of a bonfire on the beach and a yummy chowder fest. There are also some awesome shopping spots nearby where you can get all of your presents, including delicious chocolate.

Cape May in New Jersey has the Washington Street Mall, which gets decked out with gorgeous decorations during the holidays. They also hold the annual Hospitality Nights. This is where merchants line the street and hand out samples and treats and it is a really nice event to be able to enjoy the town and mingle with locals and other visitors. Congress Hall is a terrific place to take the kids where they can ride a train, decorate gingerbreads and even see Santa.

West Virginia

West Virginia’s Lewisburg is home to The Greenbrier Hotel and this spot puts on the most amazing display of holiday decorations. The display is complete with a ton of ribbon and a number of stunning Christmas trees. The resort is 236-years-old and knows how to not only get the whole day, but also its visitors, into the Christmas spirit. The town’s Carnegie Hall holds an incredible concert every year put on by the West Virginia Symphony. Plus, there are a lot of great shops and bakeries to stop in at.

The city of Vail in Colorado is really a winter wonderland during the holidays. Every December, the town hosts Snowdaze, which brings live concerts every evening in the beautiful and luscious snow. Vail also hosts the event, Holidaze, which features the tree lighting ceremony in the village during the winter solstice. Plus, the hotels and local bars are always serving up the best winter cocktails and hot chocolate to help keep you warm.
