Top 3 places to visit whilst in Chiang Mai:

1. Wat Suan Dok

Chmaiwsuandok050611bThis Buddhist temple is interestingly enough a Royal Temple which used to belong to the Third Class. The temple grounds are actually pretty awe-inspiring with their white large, heaven-like chedis (see image). This famous sight is located west of the old town and the name itself translates to ‘Flower Garden Temple’.

This was due to the fact it was built on a royal garden previously. With plenty to explore once you are on site, you’ll see the 48 meter high golden Chedi; the central attraction of the temple which features Buddha. With so much history to be discovered stemming back from the 14th century, there is plenty about this stunning temple that makes it well worth the visit.

2. Night Bazaar

Also known as the shopper’s paradise, the famous Night Bazaar in Chiang Mai is the place to be if you want to hunt for a good bargain. The Bazaar is located on the East side of the city and is open every evening until midnight so you have plenty of time after a day full of adventure to get your shop-on! You can even get there earlier to see the vendors lining up their stalls along the footpaths as they set out their goods. The bazaar is home to a whole range of Thai goods from clothes and local goods to DVD’s and jewelry. There is something here for everyone at unbeatable prices!

3. Mae Sa Waterfall

To dip into some the wonders of nature Chiang Mai has to offer, taking a journey to the Mae Sa waterfall, especially in rainy season, should be high up on your list! It is a series of roughly ten waterfalls that cascade anywhere between 100-500 meters away from each other. You will find each one has been sign posted and is definitely a great place to take a plenty of photos whilst having a picnic! Overall, when you go on tours in Chiang Mai, the Mae Sa Waterfall is a must.
