Iceland is a beautiful country with a vibrant culture and some seriously tasty food. There is some great traditional icelandic music but there is also a cavalcade of rock, post-rock, and avante-garde musicians coming out of the land of ice. Musicians from Iceland come in all shapes and sizes.

Sigur Ros
Sigur Ros gained acclaim after they scored the soundtrack for Vanilla Sky but they have huge following both in Iceland and abroad. Their music ranges from atmospheric ambiance to fun string arrangements that a more upbeat. Every musician is a multi instrumentalist.
Bjork
Bjork started off in the Sugarcubes but soon forged ahead as a solo artist releasing some of the most interesting and avante garde music of the past three decades. Her favorite albums of mine are Medulla, Volta, and Vespertine.
Of Monsters and Men
Of Monsters and Men is one of the newer bands to come out of Iceland and the have a more traditional rock and roll sound than the rest of bands on this list.
Amiina
Amiina is a great group of girls who often perform with Sigur Ros as their ochestral accompainment.
